About the Art
I’m Emily Louise Heard, an abstract artist based in Wales.
Why do I paint?
My work is driven by a deep desire to express emotions that words often can’t capture. After becoming a mother and experiencing post-natal depression, I returned to my art with a renewed sense of purpose. I create art as a response to the chaos of daily life, aiming to bring serenity and calm amidst the challenges of parenthood and family life.
What is my art about?
My paintings explore the interplay of emotions and energy, drawing inspiration from nature and the elements. Through abstract forms and vibrant colors, I reflect a beauty that is often beyond our conscious perception. Each piece invites viewers to pause, breathe, and escape the overwhelming pace of life—offering a sanctuary of peace and tranquility for the soul.
Internationally collected, my work is a reflection of my journey, and I’d love for it to find a new home with you.
About Emily Louise Heard: Welsh Artist
Where it all began
I live in South Wales with my husband and two young children. My journey with art began at the age of five, when I was captivated by the work of an older child at school. That spark of awe ignited a lifelong pursuit to create and connect through art.
What's psychology got to do with it?
Though I initially chose to study psychology instead of pursuing a formal art education, my fascination with human emotion has always been a central theme in my work. This academic background has shaped my artistic approach, infusing my paintings with psychological depth and an exploration of emotional landscapes.
What art means to me
The ability to evoke emotion and connect with others through my art has been my passion since I first picked up a paintbrush.
I can’t imagine a world without it.
